Q: How much is chance affecting your life?
A: Depends whether you view life like Poker or Roulette.
Following the three part series on the “Games We Play”, I want to add one more thought about games.
Poker and Roulette are both games of chance that require a player to make choices. But there is a significant difference.
In Roulette, skill plays a very small part in success. The majority of the outcome is purely chance.
In Poker, chance can deal you a terrible hand, but if you play it well, you can win the pot.
Life is more like Poker than Roulette.
There’s a lot we can’t control. But there’s likely more skill that can be applied to affect the outcome.
Actionable Question: How can I play my hand better instead of just hoping to win?
