The Chicken Sandwich Problem

Q: Why pay someone when I can do it myself?
A: There’s a special efficiency achieved when you work with others.

Andy George set out to make a chicken sandwich without paying other people for ingredients–he did everything himself. He got ocean water to make salt, milked a cow to create the cheese, and grew his own vegetables.

It took six months and cost $1,500.

My point in sharing this is to counter the notion that paying someone to do something is selfish or only for convenience.

Paying others for goods and services creates a sort of mass coordination and cooperation that produces incredible efficiencies and empowers people to do even greater work.

Actionable Question:  What is something you’re doing that you should pay someone else to do?

Happy to collaborate,

P.S. Don’t get me started on the downside of mass manufacturing. Today, I’m just focusing on the benefits.
