Enjoying Mundane Moments

Q: What’s special about ordinary moments?
A: How they add up.

I drove almost 2,000 miles this week. That was nearly 32 hours behind the wheel. And for the most part, it was just me watching the taillights in front of me.

But I had a thought about halfway through: By being too focused on the road I was missing the road trip. I was seeing the asphalt, but was missing sweeping vistas, quaint country towns, dessert mesas, mountain foothills, historic landmarks, and urban sprawl.

I was missing the “road trip” because I was only seeing the GPS or the license plate of the car ahead of me. A sort of missing the forest for the trees.

The beauty of ordinary moments is how they build the bigger picture.

Actionable Question:  How am I missing the “forest for the trees”?

Drive safely,
